ZOOM! Whitening

How does Zoom! WhiteSpeed™ work?

The new improved Zoom WhiteSpeed is clinically proven to whiten teeth up to 8 shades in 45 minutes. That's 40% better than a comparable non-light activated system.I The new LED light technology emits at the optimal light spectrum with 100% greaterlight intensity than the closest competitive lamp. 2 The light then activates a photo catalyst within Zoom Chairside Light-Activated Gel to greatly accelerate and enhance whitening results and deliver the dramatic results your patients will love.

The Zoom light activated gel was developed after years of research by Discus Dental / USA, the leaders in professional tooth whitening. The gel is a proprietary scientifically formulated, pH balanced Hydrogen Peroxide that, when activated by the Zoom! light, gently penetrates the teeth to remove deep stains and discoloration. The Zoom! light aids in activating the Hydrogen Peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth. As the Hydrogen Peroxide gel is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel. The production of highly saturated oxygen from the hydrogen peroxide gel breaks down the size of long chained molecules that stain tooth enamel. (Examples of these molecules are coffee, tea, tobacco, chocolate, red wine, sauce and beetroot.) As these "teeth staining" molecules become smaller they release themselves from within the tooth enamel while the structure of the tooth is unchanged. Dramatically whiter and brighter teeth is then achieved. The Zoom company has worked extensively with optics experts for many months to create a new custom Sodium-Free Short Arc bulb, which emits the optimal bleaching spectrum at the highest power output of any chair side whitening system ever.

An average of 8 shades in just 45 minutes.. The new Zoom! WhiteSpeed LED light system ensures quick, precise patient set-up for optimal results. A study has shown that use of the Zoom! LED lamp increases the effectiveness of the Zoom! gel by 33% or more, giving an average improvement of eight shades. In clinical studies, over 50% of patients reached B1* or better in just 45 minutes. This testing was conducted among patients with starting with shades that were 8 shades or more darker than shade B1 using three, 15 minutes sessions.

The Zoom! Gel works due to the "photo-fenton" reaction of peroxide and iron. The peroxide component reacts with the iron to produce hydroxyl radicals, a.k.a. "stain terminators." The LED light reaction cyclically renews the iron, so it continues to produce hydroxyl radicals, significantly enhancing whitening results.
